Omi Speech-to-Text API & Playground — Terms of Use

Effective: 7 August 2026 · Provider: Omi Health B.V., Eindhoven, Netherlands · Contact: [email protected]

These plain-language terms cover the Omi Speech-to-Text API and the STT Playground on this site. By creating an account, using an API key, or using the Playground, you agree to them.

1. What the Service is

The Omi Speech-to-Text API is a generally available, production service. It is processed in the European Union (AWS eu-central-1). We publish the exact model build serving your request in the `X-Omi-Model-Build` response header and in the transcript metadata. The API does not currently offer customer-selected model-build pinning; the published build is the authoritative identifier for support and reproducibility.

Output is an AI-generated draft. It can contain errors, including in clinical detail. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. A qualified person must review anything used in care.

The Playground on this site is an evaluation surface only, with its own rate limits.

2. Accounts, keys and fair use

You need a verified email address to create an API key. Keep your key secret; you are responsible for use made with it. We rate-limit usage per key and may throttle or suspend a key that threatens the stability of the Service or the experience of other customers.

Please don't attempt to bypass limits, resell raw access to the Service as if it were your own, or reverse-engineer the models.

3. Free allowance, paid usage and changes to pricing

Every account receives a recurring monthly free allowance, which may be used commercially and with real patient audio. Promotional grants, when issued, are consumed after that allowance and before billable usage. After both are exhausted, requests are rejected with a clear error unless a payment method is on file — you are never silently billed.

Your price and your free allowance do not change while your account is active. We may change them for new accounts. If we change them for existing accounts, we will give at least 30 days' notice first. Your free allowance is denominated in hours, not in currency credit.

4. Your content, and what we do with it

You keep ownership of the audio and text you submit. We use it only to run the transcription and return your result.

We do not use customer content to train or evaluate models — on any tier, including the free tier. Playground audio is deleted immediately after transcription. Stored API result artifacts are retained only until your configured expiry: default 24 hours, configurable from 1 to 72 hours. Owner-scoped job metadata and expiry tombstones may remain for up to 72 hours so expired jobs can return a stable response. Audio is deleted when transcription completes. Jobs delivered by webhook carry an effective 9-hour minimum so a final delivery retry can still be picked up.

5. Personal and patient data

Processing of personal data is governed by the Data Processing Agreement (GDPR Article 28), accepted at signup.

If you are a HIPAA covered entity or business associate, a Business Associate Agreement is available and can be signed self-serve in the console, on every tier including the free tier. Do not send protected health information before the BAA is in place — this takes seconds at signup, and is not gated behind a paid plan or a sales conversation.

Our sub-processors are listed at /legal/sub-processors.

6. Availability

We aim for high availability and publish incidents, but the standard Service carries no service-level agreement. An SLA, committed capacity, self-hosted deployment and dedicated support are available on Enterprise terms — contact [email protected].

We may modify or discontinue features. For a change that materially reduces the Service for existing customers, we will give at least 30 days' notice.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Omi Health B.V.'s total liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amounts paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or US $100 if no fees were paid. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your key at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where required by law. On termination, content is deleted in line with section 4.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, with the courts of Oost-Brabant, Eindhoven having exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer or data-protection rules that apply where you are established.

We may update these terms; material changes carry 30 days' notice and a fresh acceptance prompt in the console. Questions: [email protected] · Security: [email protected]
