Most STT free tiers are a one-time credit: generous on day one, gone by month two. Ours renews every month, allows commercial use, includes the BAA, and your audio is never used for training. Competitor figures verified against their own pricing pages on 7 August 2026 — this market reprices often, so we date the claim:
Ours is the only free tier we know of where you can sign a BAA without paying anything. Every other API that offers a self-serve BAA requires a paid account first; the rest route you through sales. Recurring forever, commercial use permitted, a medical-specific model, and never trained on — on every tier, including this one.
Requests are rejected with a clear error — you are never silently billed. Add a card in the console to keep going at $0.20 per audio-hour, or wait for the monthly reset.
The $0.20/audio-hour rate is public and stable. The only discounting is the hand-issued founding-partner program. Your free allowance is denominated in hours, not dollars.

Yes. The free allowance may be used in production, in a commercial product, and with real patient audio. There is no non-commercial restriction and no evaluation-only clause. The Data Processing Agreement is accepted at signup and a Business Associate Agreement can be signed self-serve in the console — on every tier, including this one.
Your price and your free allowance do not change while your account is active. We may change them for new accounts, and we will give existing accounts at least 30 days’ notice before any change that would affect them. Because the allowance is denominated in hours rather than credit, a future price rise makes your free hours worth more, not fewer.
